Just as a misaligned tire causes wear & tear of the tread of the tire, misaligned vertebra can cause wear & tear (degeneration) of the spinal disc(s) {the cushions between the spinal bones.} The result is decreased disc height which may pinch or choke the nerve fibers as they exit from the spine possibly causing pain, tingling or numbness. Decompression therapy by VAX-D (Vertebral AXial - Decompression) has received a lot of attention lately. We use a decompression table that can flex at the waist creating even greater stretch on the posterior spine where the nerve exits between the vertebra. This process not only decompresses the disc(s) but also removes pressure on the nerve fibers descending from the spine.
